Smart Cities AECID

From November 13 to 15, 2017, the Seminar "Innovation of public policies in urban services: the case of smart cities" was organized at the Spanish Cooperation Training Center in Cartagena de Indias, organized by the Secretary of State for the Information Society and the Digital Agenda of Spain (SESIAD), with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

The activity brought together 26 representatives from Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Venezuela, who agreed on the need to create smart cities that improve the quality of life of their citizens and its environmental sustainability, in addition to promoting Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

There, due to the tasks that GICom develops in Study Group 20: IoT and Smart Cities and Communities, Mr. Juan Pablo Martín, Associate Editor of Q2 / 20 of said commission, participated as a speaker in the workshop "Workshop practical to examine the ongoing actions of ITU Standardization of Smart Cities; Metrics and Tools for the evaluation of Public Policies in Smart Cities ",

The Seminar allowed to increase the preparation of the attendees by presenting reference strategies and knowledge sharing between representatives of the Administrations involved, experts, institutions and industry.
